Trash talkin' with Krista

Hello readers one and all!
This is Krista Costin, one of the seven cast members of "Trailer Park." Welcome to our blog! I hope that you will read on as we journey through the rehearsal process to opening night - July 12 at the Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Also, share this blog with everyone you know: friends, family, your family physician, dentist, hairdresser ... get it? EVERYONE! This show is sure to take this community by storm. It chronicles the life and times of 7 characters who, are (at some point) residents of Armadillo Acres Trailer Park in Starke, Florida. Some residents are more permanent than others .... which brings me to the part I am playing! I am playing Betty: the brassy (but classy) down-to-earth caretaker of the Trailer Park. She has lived there since 1973 and knows the dirt on everyone and everything. She has a quick wit that makes me giggle. For instance: upon being called "white trash" at White Castle, she says, "I don't work on my tan near 365 days a year to be called white anything!" There you have Betty in a nutshell! As you read on, I'm sure you'll get a glimpse of the other characters in the show from the rest of the cast who will be getting their blog on!!

My favorite part of this show is the utter honesty that each of these characters portray. The top question that I get from people when asked about the show is "does the show only make fun of people in trailer parks?" Well, yes and no. The script and score for the show hilariously plays with these stereotypes, however, it never loses its grip on the fact that these are real people in real situations. The mix of country, rock, gospel and all different genres of music gives the show never-ending variety that will leave you wanting more at the end!!

Stay tuned for more blog entries, pictures and video footage as we continue our rehearsal process. Till next time! ....

Krista
aka "Bad-ass Betty"
